Facilitator Page

One of the main features of English Eco MOOC-style language learning is that it is Open for facilitators - anyone who wants could create a 2-week topic and submit it to a list of available topics for learners to browse on a course list page. The topics themselves would be hosted wherever the facilitator decides (on their own blog, webpage, facebook, school homepage, etc). A sample topic page can be found here.

A list of suggested topic elements would be provided on the Facilitator Page. Initially, these suggested elements include:

  • Welcome message and description of the topic
  • A challenge or activity for the week
  • A langue or grammar based activity or worksheet
  • A vocabulary list
  • Provide feedback on participant interaction
  • Notice participant autonomy and construe connections
  • Provide guidance on Learner Autonomy
  • A conclusion message
  • An update of the topic for the next session

It should be noted that learners would be encouraged to create and facilitate their own topics, once they become comfortable enough with the learning format to try. This is an ideal way for students to learn.

The facilitator page would also include:

  • guidelines to support facilitators in creating, and continually revising, successful topics high in feedback and interaction.
  • a link to The Facilitator Blog, where facilitators could read about useful online instruction, course design, and CMC strategies...all driven by posts, ideas and suggestions from the community.

  • Various other links and any other information relevant to the facilitator, making it a portal to all topic creation needs.
