English Eco is intended to be a MOOC-style way to learn language. This website is a model for how the initial website of such a project could function. This website also attempts showcase the Language Learning MOOC idea (more clearly than simply trying to explain it) to people and organizations who may be interested in implementing the project.  



A Language Learning MOOC needs several characteristics that are not common to most other MOOCs. One of these needs is a core group of educators that can maintain interaction, at least initially. This particular LMOOC is designed to be Open both at the top and the bottom - that is, it is an Open course for learners and for educators of language.



Thus, much of the script on this webpage is targeted at informing educators and organizations about how such a learning strategy would work. Some readers may be more familiar with MOOC-style learning than others, and some may even have differing ideas about what defines MOOC-style learning.

The English Eco LMOOC concept brings together researched CALL methods and sound Distance Education practice, and combines them in a strategy to harness the power of mass interaction, to benefit everyone involved. Please note that this is an informative website and would be written drastically different in its final, user-targeted form. In fact, the potential structure of English Eco can be adapted to suit most groups of educators and their specific context.
